What are wrinkles?

Wrinkles are usually associated with aging. However, they may also develop early depending on factors such as skin health, exposure to the sun, the diet, and overall health condition of a person. Topical herbal applications can usually counter wrinkles and the formation of premature lines.

What are the natural remedies for wrinkles?

Aloe for wrinkles –

An excellent source of alpha-hydroxy acids which are found in cosmetic products countering wrinkles, aloe vera gel acts as a natural moisturizer which can be applied directly on the skin. Moisturized skin gets less wrinkles because of better elasticity. Fresh aloe gel can be applied in a generous amount over the skin and washed with cool water in the morning for smoother and softer skin.

Calendula face rinse –

Calendula is known for having properties that stimulate skin cell growth. This fights wrinkles and help keep the complexion healthier and moisturized. Allow a tablespoon of dried calendula blooms to steep in a cup of hot water for about 5-10 minutes. Once cooled, strain and apply on the face using a cotton ball. This tea can also be used as a base for making homemade lotions and skin care products.

Coconut Oil Facial –

Possessing rich beneficial natural fats for the skin, coconut oil deeply moisturizes the skin and can help in exfoliating the dead skin cells or the outer layer in a gentle way. With just a small amount, massage all over the face and use an overall face mask. Rinse in the morning with a mild cleanser for softer and more radiant skin.

Lemon Balm Witch Hazel –

Bruise some lemon balm leaves which have been cleaned, and tear them into pieces. When placed in a jar, soak the leaves witch hazel and allow them to sit for a few weeks. When ready, strain and store in a spray bottle. Dilute the resulting pale yellow oil in equal parts of water. This can be sprayed on the face as a toner or used as a fragrant body spray.

Wrinkle prevention –

Every night, applying a natural wrinkle prevention concoction can help keep wrinkles at bay. Using equal parts of orange, fennel, geranium, and chamomile essential oils, dilute them in two tablespoons of either almond, hazelnut, or apricot kernel oil. Apply the essential oil blend on the face and neck and use overnight as a wrinkle-preventing toner.
